Good Points
No good points. The worst holiday ever. An absolute nightmare.
Bad Points
Disgusting, filthy, cockroach infested rooms. The girl on reception on the night of our complaint was nothing more than ignorant, bad mannered, unhelpful and was in the wrong job.
General Comments
We arrived at the Puerto Tachiche on the 25th Jan for 1 weeks holiday. On arrival, our room was not prepared properly. The toilet was not disinfected and there was not enough bedding. The first evening, we had been out and when we got back I noticed cockroaches under our beds. I got up and went to the loo to find them dropping off the bathroom ceiling. In fact they were all over. I had bought a lot of food in so I started to cook on our first morning. There was like flea type bugs around the cooking area. I went to complain and I was told they would come to spray our room. Nobody came but under the sink I found two very large cans of cockroach spray. We did the whole apartment (3108 Blue). We were killing them all night. I asked if we could be moved and was told I would have to go back on the Sunday morning, I don't know why as it was not busy. We got home around 12.30pm on the Saturday night and as 10 minutes had passed, we had a large pile of cockroach bodies. In disgust we started to pack up all our belongings. I went to reception and told the girl that we could no longer stay there, we had gone through 3 cans of cockroach spray by this time and the fumes had made my husband ill. The girl tutted and rolled her eyes as I said we had to move, why the hell should I have to go on holiday with my family to buy disinfectant and clean this disgusting room. There was around a 2 inch gap in the threshold that was just full of old food sweetcorn, crisps etc. Our disabled son was with us and we were told that they could only offer us a room for 2 people. We were given 2 keys to check these studios. Room 2106 had a cockroach above the bed as big as a plum. We then went to check room 2222 which was unclean but livable for the night. These rooms have had never had the furniture moved out, the skirting boards are absolutely thick with muck. The cleaners just mop the rooms with a dirty mop and mucky water, so you have everyone's hairs etc. in your rooms. My son had to sleep in another couples room for the night. We had taken him away as he has a bone disease and he has been in a great deal of pain, so it was important for him to rest. We called the rep out around 1.30am and took her straight to the disgust that we had been forced to put up with. We were told that we would have to see the other rep at 4pm on Sunday, as she was on the market trip that day. We just wandered around in the reception area all day as the room was not big enough for the three of us. The rep came and told us that a room had been waiting all day but nobody had been bothered to tell us. She said we would get champagne and fruit from the reception. We went to our room 2324a which was on the top floor, bearing in mind our son is disabled. Again it was filthy. Thick skirting boards full of dust, hair, muck. The rep got the cleaner back and she spent all of 2 minutes cleaning it. We just needed to rest and we had already packed and unpacked twice. The fruit and bottle of Cava came the next day and the fruit had 3 bugs in it. This holiday has been a absolute nightmare. We have tried to make the best of it for our sons sake. We actually stayed there 2 years ago and it wasn't like this. How this hotel has 3 stars is beyond me as we know by other guests that there was cockroaches in the restaurant. The hotel did offer us food but how could we accept that after spending 3 days cleaning up cockroaches. When it rained there it was like a skating ring. The hotel was leaking and they would not put signs up to say where it was wet. The stairs were lethal. I would never ever go back to this hotel. It needs scrubbing from the top to the bottom. The beds were soiled. The blankets were foisty. It has been a awful experience.
