Good Points
The free upgrade to the all inclusive drinks package was very good, if you like a drink.
The Thompson Destiny ship was clean, there was a couple of incidents with a few passengers going down ill, therefore enforcing strict hygiene before eating, which should happen all the time really.
Most staff were really pleasant and helpful, a few with an 'I can't be bothered' attitude.
We celebrated my wife's 40th Birthday and the restaurant staff serenaded her, they brought out a nice birthday cake and she had a mention in the on board paper, small cost but worth it.
Nice mix of guests on board, with the late sing songs in the Clipper bar.
Bad Points
Weather wasn't too good, not Thompsons fault but a lot better than at home.
The entertainment was OK but nothing fab, the comedian was very funny, felt sorry for the entertainment staff on Elvis night, the place was packed when they came on but was nearly deserted by the time they finished, we quite enjoyed the show.
The Casino was very good, apart from they only had one roulette table, they could have done with two, we didn't lose which was a bonus and we played every night.
General Comments
We didn't do any organised trips, we prefer to do our own thing. Not a lot of guests enjoyed Morocco, I did just for the culture, Madeira was pretty nice, we went up in the cable car in Funchal and came down in the traditional wooden basket carts. The carts were a very good experience, these guys are masters at doing this, really skillful, just watch for cars coming up the hill. They only take you half way down, then you are supposed to get a taxi, more money, we decided to walk, they warned us it was steep and they are right. It seemed to take forever but when you get to the bottom you can treat yourself to a drink on a boat supposedly owned by the Beatles a few years ago. Customer service wasn't top priority, there was a only a total of eight people on board!
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed this holiday and as it is my 40th Birthday in February we have just booked to go on the Thompson Celebration on the Red Sea trip this year.
