The site is easy to use, and seems very secure. I have paid many bills and made many transfers and transactions over the 3 years I have been using the internet side of Natwest and have had no problems at all.
You have to bank at a branch of Natwest and that's where the problem is. Natwest are only interested in making money out of you, once they have squeezed you for enough of their products they will stop the friendly calls and banking 'advice' and forget you exist.
Phone banking is terrible, if you call during banking hours with a problem, fine, you'll be dealt with by someone at the branch. But phone out of hours and you get one of their so called "branch banking teams" who are not in the same league for customer service as First Direct and if your not trying to buy one of their products you will get short change or told they will pass your message on during opening hours.
Charges are outrageous, and unlike other banks I have been with you really have to fight them to get any reduction or rebate (even if they are wrong).
My changeover was dealt with very badly and a lot of payments went astray (suppose I should have charged them £35.00 per transaction) but I stuck with them because I wanted a Bank Manager to discuss financial issues with in person. I regret this now as it's all run by a computer - "if the computer says so" it's ok and no point in having a manager as he has to send everything away to get a decision anyway.
I realise now that they are just interested in getting their products sold and barely try to hide the fact. At least other banks make some sort of effort at customer service and pretend they are interested in your requirements.
I have a very good but irregular income, Natwest consistently fail to understand my requirements.
If you want good service and advice, efficient internet banking and don't need a bank manager go to First Direct.
