Good Points
Not too many of these, the only one I can think of is the ease of use. The menu's are incredibly simple and the camera itself can be picked up and used by just about anybody.
Bad Points
Where do I start: The worst thing about this camera is definitely the battery life. I took it on holiday last year and had to take at least two sets of batteries (I used 2700mAh rechargeable) with me. Each set lasted about two or three hours, with continual switching on and off of the camera and a lot of shots. I can imagine how much worse this would be with batteries of lower power. One of the many bad points about this camera is the build quality, I have had two replacements within the year and a bit I have owned it, both have been problems with the camera - one being the viewfinder jamming and the other the zoom failing to retract when the camera was switched off. The image quality of this camera is sub-standard. It is extremely susceptible to camera shake even with the flash on. It also has trouble focusing a lot of the time. The lack of features on this camera is shocking. There is very limited control over the camera settings.
General Comments
I have owned the HP Photosmart M407 camera for nearly a year and a half, and I rarely use it. It's battery life being the main off- put. This camera may only be a very basic beginners camera but its lack of features begins to get annoying after owning it for a while. The image quality is poor, it encounters problems with focusing and the detail and the colours in the images are very poor unless the lighting is absolutely perfect. I rely more on my mobile phone camera these days (which is only half the resolution of this) but at least it gives me some control over the images and the battery lasts days not minutes.
