Good Points

Provides an adequate learning resource for some lower-end GCSE students.

Bad Points

The layout is outdated and very tedious. This book claims to be a good resource for GCSE learning up to higher, although with the present syllabus this is NOT the case.
At £14.95 you'll need a mortgage to pay for this book. In my opinion it is the sort of book perfect for merchandise at a local car boot sale, or charity shop.

General Comments

Looking at the cover, you can see the disappointing style of the book. As a young mathematician, I suppose looking at it would be very uninspirational and immediately cause the student to drop it for a 'better' model. The writer conveys a simplistic technique with no language devices and seems to show very little mathematical understanding. Therefore as a source for definitions this book leaves much to be desired.
In the Tynedale region, this book shockingly does not seem to cover most of the modern syllabus, even for KS3. For instance, the lack of real life problems is displeasurable, for instance cycling problems are few and far between.
I read online that the author has communicated with children and teachers prior to their KS3 and GCSE studies. For instance, the author mentioned "Female members of staff were somewhat more bemused and thought I was quite mad." Judging by this rendition of the author's talents, they have yet to be proved wrong. It is blatant from her description that the year 6 maths teacher was NOT happy to let Julie 'loose' with a class of children, as he thought their learning would suffer as a result.
To sum up, this very disappointing book is not worth your time or money. If the writer was to publish another book, I for one would hope that the second attempt was improved a considerable amount.
