Economy, generally cheap running costs, good reliabilty.
Very limited performance, narrow cabin.
Looking for a cheap car i start by trying a Suzuki Alto (4995!) and followed that on the same day by the 1.0l Micra. Whilst the build quality was far superior, the performance was really very weak. I did try a 1.4 later that day and whilst it was much much more torquey it felt like it objected to being revved. Nissan do make a point of saying the engines are tuned for mid to low end torque, but it really feels as thought they're a little flat.
Refinement, however was superb and arguably the reason why they feel slow. The steering is pleasant enough though the exhibiting the usual PAS lack of feedback.
So in essence i would seriously consider the 1.4S ( imanaged to get a 6% discount without trying) which is not bad value at 7300ish, but i'd give the 1.0 a wide berth unless you're absolutely desperate!
Before you think I'm a boy racer hackering after a Swift GTi think again, i currently run a K10 1.0 Micra, virtually the same BHP/torque as the K11, 60mpg on a run, and significantly, over a 120kg lighter than the K11...
