Very, very fast! Handles well.
Very light - possibly too light.
The Yamaha YZF-R1 is a fantastic bike. Very, very fast (Which often makes the front a bit too light when accelerating through bends, so takes a bit of getting used to). Some people have said that the seating position hurts their wrists and back, but surprisingly, I have not found this at all. I rode 200miles to Silverstone for a track day, then rode round the track all day and then 200 miles back home and I didn't ache at all. The bike performed perfectly that day too.
I've never had a problem with the bike. The only thing I did do, was to add a steering damper to it, but this was not a necessity like some people seem to think it is on an R1. I also got it sprayed in Virgin Mobile colours (BSB) and although nearly 7 years old, people still love to look at it as though it is a bike of the future.
This is best bike I have ever owned. Admittedly, I have never owned another 1000cc bike, (Always had 600's) but this is all I'll ever need. Comfort, power, handling and reliability. What else do you need?!
