Good Points

Cheap premium, including a lot of extra benefits other insurers cannot touch!

Bad Points

Great if you don't have to claim, but not if you do!
Spanish inquisition assessor whilst trying to claim genuinely (see below).

General Comments

You probably won't get comparable cover with anyone else at the price of Esure Home Insurance, but at what cost?? My £750 TV was damaged when moving it between rooms, and it would not work afterwards. I called to claim, and I was informed that I would be called back by one of their 'Assessors'. Fine right? Wrong!! I didn't have a problem as this was a genuine claim, or so I thought. What I did not expect was a Spanish Inquisition type questioning session lasting about 30 minutes and recorded on tape. The 'Assessor' wanted every last detail, and I had to go over what happened with him several times, making me feel like I had done something wrong by the end of it. As I expected, I received a letter from them stating that I would have to get 2 estimates for repair from Engineers. Again, easy right? Wrong!! The TV repair shops are that sick of receiving calls from Insurance companies these days questioning their integrity, they will not provide estimates. I tried 3 places and then gave up. I ended up just binning the TV and buying a new one and not proceeding with the claim as it was easier.

The thing that annoyed me even more is that when my renewal for the following year arrived, it had a claim for the TV on there!! When I questioned them about this they said it was because it had been "Put on the system". Don't get me wrong, I am all for companies weeding out the non-genuine claims (and we all know there are lots of them). I felt like I was in the wrong for claiming, and for my first ever claim for house contents insurance on an accidental damage in 13 years!?

Griffin... I can't understand how you gave a 9/10 mark for value for money where you've had to bin the TV with not a penny compensation.

However cheap the insurance, it was a total waste of money in your case. I would have given it MINUS 10 out of 10!!

Fair point Bertie. Actually, if I had thought about it properly I wouldn't have given Esure Home Insurance the score I did for value for money, but the first thing that came into my head was the amount of cover you get for the price!! I didn't think about the 'value' being the level of service etc. Lesson learnt!!
