General Comments

The Sony Vaio VGN-S5M/S is a great small laptop with the best screen I have seen on any portable machine. I use mine with a DVB adaptor for watching TV and DVDs rather than a CRT TV - it's that good. The screen also comes into its own for general use and browsing the web, the graphics are brought to life with the crisp and high contrast imaging that Sony have achieved with the X-Black technology employed.
The hard disk is large and fast enough for general use, and the Nvidia graphics card means it is possible to play most video games without any problem.
I have owned this laptop for over a year and use it every day. In that time I have had one breakdown (a bulb in the screen blew) which required repair by Sony. The laptop was sent to France by courier for repair and returned within the week.
I would buy another Sony Vaio without any qualms.
