Restaurants listed by cuisine (you want Italian, they give you Italian. If you demand Indian, the give you Indian).
Taxi contacts never ever fail. I always get a pickup within minutes regardless of where I am.
Texting the number to your mobile is excellent. I always find I have to use the service again, and this saves me a call, as I save the number right away.
They off a 24/7 service. It is easy to get what's required when you're out late.
They have enough information on their system to provide alternatives and choice.
I have had a good experience overall, any time I've ever contacted Yell 118 247.
Bad Points
They sometimes struggle to find specific products or services in some fields and in some areas.
General Comments
I have used 118 24 7 many times now, and I find it very informative indeed. You always find that those who answer the phone are able and willing to help, and there is never any problem with dialect, as you are connected to a UK call centre.
This may increase the cost ever so slightly, but you certainly make up for that with the all round experience on the call. I find that when traveling especially, I can gather local information and get business information very easily. When you are eating out and won't settle for a poor quality meal, then Yell have managed to list all restaurants by cuisine, and I never fail to stumble across high quality, affordable restaurants, regardless of where I end up in the UK.
I always use this number for locating taxi's, and I have now started sourcing business contacts when at work. The Boss doesn't seem to mind the odd directory call when he knows it's for information I require when on the move.
Overall, I would say this is a great product, and if you feel the need to use a directory service, then I'd say make this your choice.
