It's Grand Theft Auto on your PSP!
Graphics came out pretty well all in all
Running and gunning is out of the question, while aiming Tony stays rooted to the spot
Most of the characters are dis-likable
For a GTA game this is not spectacular. But it's on PSP. That means you can play GTA on the plane, train etc. Having some mindless destruction, on tap, whenever and wherever you want it, is what makes this third game great.
As for the game itself, It's really pretty good. Sure it reaches nothing resembling the dizzying heights of GTA San Andreas or Half Life 2, but It still fills me with hope for the future of portable gaming.
There is a GTA storyline with some pretty cool and wacky characters and it isn't short either. The good guy, Tony Cipriani, is fantastic and is everything a GTA goody should be, straight, fair, tough and pretty sharp to boot. However the other characters, with the exception of Salvator are generally just there to use and abuse you, which can become annoying after a while. I estimate the missions will take you about 8 hours to complete. And once you have done that there are loads of other things to do, the possibilities are (almost) endless.
However, like all games, it wont last forever. The shelf life is shortened by the lack of flying vehicles, the inability to swim, and the absence most of the cool role playing elements of San Andreas. Another annoying feature is that with all but the most poxy weapons (pistol, uzi) you can move and fire. Which results in you getting gunned to death much more than you should, and is very frustrating.
I recommend, unless you find this at a bargain price, getting the next game in the instalment, Vice City Stories, which a good, logical evolution. Oh, and you can swim.
