General Comments

On the 12th January I went into the Bridlington branch of Kwik Fit after hearing a rattling noise under my Mitsubishi Animal. They put the car up onto the ramps and they told me that the baffles in the back box had gone and I would therefore need a full new back box section, but that they would need to order in the part at a cost of £400. I then contacted the garage where my car came from and gave them the information from Kwik Fit and they consequently quoted me £300 to carry out the work I was advised needed doing by Kwik Fit. On the 13th January I decided to get a second opinion as I was unhappy with the cost. I therefore went to National Tyres who also put the car on the ramps. They informed me that it was actually the heat shield that had been rattling on the back box and after showing me he simply removed it at the cost of nothing, on leaving there was no more rattling to be heard, and understandably I was shocked at the original explanation for my car problems. I went back to Kwik Fit to explain that I wouldn't be needing the part and to advise them to look more carefully in future as a £400 quote made in error is a big mistake. I was faced with denial and that the problem remained which it clearly didn't, the assistant remained completely unhelpful and as a result of this I have been left extremely disappointed and upset with the service offered by Kwik Fit, they were unprofessional and in my opinion incompetent. I actually wonder if I had accepted the original quote they would have carried out the unnecessary work and charged me the full price, even if they had realised their mistake. I have neither received an apology or an explanation and as a result of this my trust in Kwik Fit is irreversibly broken.

I've heard some real horror stories about Kwik Fit too, my best advice would be to avoid.

I had the same problem with my Animal, and Mitsubishi fixed it. 2 Days later it started again so they had it in again and said that it was because the engine was idling too slowly. They boosted the turbo to increase Idling revs. A couple of months later the turbo cracked. A month after that and the engine blew up. Then they wouldn't honout the warranty. The engines in the animal are absolute poor so beware.
