General Comments

From an industrial design point I like the Oreck XL but it does not compare with the Eureka's and Hoovers in the same price category. It has low suction compared to other makes and it takes multiple passes to pick up anything that is not just laying on the carpet surface. Another aggravating trait is its tendency to track left or right. I have had to pull the handle at a 20 or 30 degree angle to get it to track straight back. And what is with those little side whiskers? Worthless! As if they were going to make up for the 2 to 3 inch gap from beater brush to the edge of the case. I would never buy another one. No wonder it ranks low in the Consumer's Reports reviews.
