You need to call them if you want to spend a big amount. What is a big amount?
Additional card only helpful to remind you what you spent personally and for business. However, there is no seperate billing.


General Comments

We have had the platinum cards for a month now. Until now, everything went wrong. We got this card on "invitation", but when we wanted to pay with it - it was not authorised. I told them where we were, and what the estimated amount would be, but we still had problems with the American Express platinum credit cards. It took 2 hours, and then we decided to pay with our old fashioned Gold card from Mastercard (35 Euro's per year). With this gold card, I can also put the spending limit on higher amounts, which just takes a phone call. And since it seems that we have to call Amex before making a "big" purchase, we do not see the benefit of the platinum credit card. I have been trying to make purchases with the card also for small amounts, but somehow, we haven't been able to yet. We can pay, after they have called our bank. which is not a problem at all, but it takes too much time for us. We would rather pay with our bank Master Card - never had ANY problems. Calling them does not help - they promise a lot, but they also admit that things are put very nicely in the brochure. Customer service is only available during Dutch office hours, so when you are in Asia or the US, you might find it difficult to contact them at all. Your call is then forwarded to Belgium, but since you have a Dutch card, they cannot do anything for you.

Their travel service is bad. I tried to make reservations for hotels in the US, requesting for specific hotels. After a week I had to call back, and they came back with completely different hotels. I requested the Hilton in Times Square - they said it was not possible, so they wanted to put us in the Holiday Express. I booked the Hilton on the Hilton website myself.

The concierge service is very nice and handy though.

All in all, we are not even going to try paying with it anymore. We have already paid the 550 Euro, but we will not extend. We are just glad we still have our old fashioned Master card!!!
