The location on the beach was very nice.
Bad Points
The resort itself seems extremely run down, really beat up rooms and hotel amenities and the service is totally second rate. I call that type of service the two-look approach, first they look at you and grimace and then when they realize that they are at work they sigh, look up at you again and finally ask if you need something. The restaurant food was extremely poor quality for a place that is supposedly 5 star. I would rate it in the category of a Radisson but you are paying for the Ritz. Probably the best indicator of quality is the look on every one's face that stays there, there were several folks we visited with that were absolutely miserable and everyone else just looked disappointed. We tried to make the best of it but the staff made no contribution to our efforts. They were hassled every time we went to them with requests.
General Comments
I would stay away from Sandals Antigua, especially if romance is in your plan. One of the couples we met there ware planning their wedding and nearly called the whole thing off because of the miserable conditions/environment and the poor service. They waited until the last minute to pull through, fortunately they went forward with the wedding because they make a really nice couple! Leave Sandals to the miserable staff that run it, we sure won't miss them!
