General Comments

I put my house on the market with Adkins, Countrywide back in March 2006. They valued my house about £15,000 more than any body else, but said they had buyers lined up to buy it. As a result, they said they would charge me a fee of 2% and fix it, so I knew how much to pay. As they were going to get me £15000 more than I thought I would get, I signed up! Anyway, they stuck my house on the market, and surprise surprise, I had little or no interest. After a few weeks I tried to speak to my contact there but eventually I was told he had left. The new member of staff suggested I drop the price by £15000 to attract viewings, which would help in achieving the desired result. Anyway, after about another 5 weeks, it eventually sold for £175000, which is £25000 less than I first expected, and when I was hit with their bill, it was still the 2% of the original £200000 it went on at, because I had "fixed" the price. I ended up paying them £4000 plus the VAT, which I think worked out at 2.3%!
