Sound and true bass extension. Width and depth of the sounstage. The look of Brazilian Rosewood. Rarity.
err...none......although they do need a pretty large room to breath and several thousands of pounds worth of hardware and cables. It would be an insult not to provide them with the best possible signal. Like any high hi-fi and loudspeaker, they don't take kindly to bad recordings.
The sound quality and sheer width and depth of the soundstage is beguiling. The bass response is utterly wall shaking if you want it to be, mostly when the Wife is out ! It is possible to almost see (!) the bass ripples as they flow across the listening space, if that makes sense, it will do to another 107.2 owner. I have owned them for 3 years and a pair of 107's before these and they both have the same signature 107 soundstage which can take some getting used to if you are used to 'normal' speakers. The coupled cavity 10 woofers enclosed in the cabinet produce the low frequencies which is fired upwards and this is a phenominal help when positioning them as you don't get the usual boominess associated with other speakers when positioning close to walls. Mine sit 5 feet from the back wall and 4 feet from the side wall in a 14 x 30 room. The Raymond Cooke Series of Kef's loudspeakers (107.2, 104.2, LS35A) was and still is the pinnacle of Kef Reference loudspeaker design.
All of the Raymond Cooke Reference Series have Gold Plaques with a quote by Raymond.
