Website fairly easy to navigate.
Differing costs for home delivery - off peak times you pay less.
Sometimes cannot find simple things on the website that are in the store that you buy every week.
Terrible order pickers (rotten veg).
I ordered from Sainsburys online until I received an offer for £5 off a £40 online shop with Tesco. The website was fairly easy to navigate, although to my surprise some items that I pick up in Tesco on a weekly basis just couldn't be found on the site, even though I tried multiple variations of searches. The ordering was the easy part. I placed my order, picked my delivery slot and away it went. The delivery slots are a two hour slot, so I waited in on a Friday afternoon and it turned up on time. That's where the good part ends.
At least 10 items were not available, and every single one was replaced with a more expensive item, putting a just over £40 shop to well over £50. Some of the items I kept, others I returned. I unpacked and put everything away, and on the Sunday I started to prepare lunch. When I opened the potatoes my finger went straight through one. I pulled them all out and every single one of them was rotten. Literally falling away soggy with rot. I examined most of the veg and at least 50% of the stuff I had ordered was either starting to go bad or already off. The spring onions were shriveled and brown, and the carrots were soft and rubbery. I jumped in the car and went to my local Sainsburys to buy new veg and half the items that I had sent back to Tesco. My fault was that I didn't complain. At the time I was heading off on holiday on the Monday, and I just plain forgot when I got back. This week however, I received another letter in the post with a £5 off a £50 shop voucher and a leaflet describing their home delivery service. Apparently their pickers are trained to pick the freshest veg and the kind of stuff they would want to buy themselves. I wrote back to Tesco enclosing the leaflet and explaining my situation, and I am awaiting a reply.
