Good Points

It was hot.

Bad Points

Bad start when airport officials were overrun with the arrival of three planes at almost the same time. It took an hour to get through immigration, even with visas! Hopeless.
The Banburi Beach Hotel was, in my opinion, a dump of a hotel that doesn't rate a single star. Dirty rooms, worse bathrooms, unusable beach and an emergency generator that exhausts fumes straight into the pool and snack bar.
Bad ending, having to go through seven checks/queues, only to have to sit on the floor for an hour with no toilets, facilities, shops or air con. Oh yes, and a body search in front of everyone whilst standing on a shoe-bomb sniffing device, unreal!

General Comments

Advertised by First Choice as a perfect, all inclusive 4 star beach holiday hotel.
The reality of it was a filthy stinking hole, with an unusable public beach, overrun with beach traders of every description; tourist junk, wannabe Safari guides etc. All standing on the beach in front of the hotel shouting for your attention all day long and harassing you to death the second you step onto the sand.
The pictures in the brochure were five years out of date by the staffs own admission.
No all inclusive ice cream, no free local bottled beer, expensive a'la carte restaurant, home made sun loungers, watered down tap beer, watered down wine served from a carton, 1 pedalo for 460 rooms and 2 windsurfers, holes big enough for a child to break a leg around the main pool.

At night you are guarded by about six men in uniforms with bows and arrows, who prowl the corridors at will. What a sight to behold!

As you cant use the beach, everyone plays beach games in the pool. So to get some peace, you have to sit round the back pool and snack bar area. Only some prat built the emergency generator facing the pool, so 4 times a day you get choked to death on it's fumes, unbelievable honestly!
