Compact, well integrated operating system and productivity suite with Internet capabilities.
Real mode operation can be a limitation if one is manipulating large, complex graphics.
New Deal Office 98, Release 3.2a is the latest version of this software. It is a combination of an operating system (GEOS) and a productivity suite that also incluses many other features and Internet access capability.
This revision incorporates the features of the prior version (release 3) with the Internet Kit. This sofware will run on equipment which has been left behind by the dominant software makers.
Although some may need features that this package doesn't support (such as native scanner support, or connecting a digital camera), this software is ideal for those who have the need to do basic productivity. One can write a letter, or make a newsletter. One can set up an amortization table in a spreadsheet. Once can chart data, and then use the chart in a brochure. In short, there is much that can be done.
To top it off, one can now browse the Internet as well as send and receive Email easily. Although the browser doesn't yet support JavaScript and cookies (which may mean that some sites won't work correctly), sites that stick with HTML standards will work just fine.
There are also many extras in the New Deal Office package. New Deal Inc. has a web site (www.newdealinc.com) from which one can not only get full details about this package, but one can also download an evaluation version.
Take that hardware that has been sitting idle and make it useful once again, either as a second computer for the kids or for someone who otherwise would be left on the wrong side of the digital divide.
