Fast-based quiz, probably ahead of its time.
Is it really more than ten years since Going for Gold was on, how time flies!! Sorely missed from our screens.
Popular daytime quiz show hosted by genial broadcaster Henry Kelly, this quiz threw together contestants from all over Europe as they battled for the prestigious Going for Gold crown. The questions came thick and fast as our masterful Irish host presided over proceedings. Going for Gold was on our screens for something like a decade between the mid-eighties and mid-nineties, it was a pure joy to behold and I for one miss it terribly. I can still picture Henry saying "who am I, what am I" as the clock ran down on his clues to answering the question in order to get through to the "First Round Proper" and who can forget the Final Round, when your speed on the buzzer together with the correct answer could collect you four points rather than one, if you were a bit of a slow coach or a dunce. Magical stuff, time for a revival methinks.
