General Comments

I rang up and ordered a Megane CC on the 27th November. "No worries, sir, that will be available in 2 weeks" says the salesman, as I was having a cancellation that was fortuitously available. So no choice of extras, colour etc but to get it in 2 weeks - seemed fair enough. I pay the deposit, then the delivery date changes to 2-3 weeks on the order form. Ho hum, I'll still have it before Christmas.
It's now the 7th January. I don't have my car. Every time I ring up, I have to be "called back" by the "progress team". I rang up at 10 this morning, as the car was *promised* to be there today. It's now 16:40. I rang them back 5 minutes ago, and was told through gritted teeth "The Progress Team are phoning up everybody, they will get to you before 7pm". I'd love to know how many cars are being delivered today for a "team" to take so long to call everyone up.
I have been car-less for weeks thanks to their mis-selling. E-mails don't get answered and every date agreed on has been missed.
If it's not there for collection this weekend, I cancel, call Trading Standards and my credit card company.

My advice would be - go there if the car you want is *in stock*. If not, do not bother as frankly, they misinformed me about delivery times to clinch the order. 2 weeks - yeah right!

I pre-ordered on the 12th September the new Renault Grand Scenic (07 model) and was quoted 6-8 weeks. It's now nearly middle of January and no sign of it. Keep on phoning the progress team but they keep on saying 2 weeks. If i cancel i lose the deposit. I'm seething with rage that they cannot keep their word. They have blamed Renault and their safety checks but i don't believe that a major car producer would be so lax.

I would wait 2 weeks if I knew I was saving £6000 on a dealer price. Or, I suppose you could pay another £6000 and go to a main dealer and buy one.

I'm not disputing the savings that can be made with Motor Provider. That's not the issue. The issue is that quoting 2 weeks for delivery, then not delivering after 7 weeks, is unacceptable. People commit to buy. Then, the 2 weeks turns into 4 weeks, 7 weeks, whatever. As it happened, I was called on Thursday to say the car was ready; then called on Friday to be told that no, the car as ordered was not available (wrong interior). The options they offered me at that point were not acceptable, so I cancelled. And fair play, I got the deposit back quickly.

I would *not* have placed the order had I known how long it would take. If they had said "2 - 6 weeks" then I'd have said no thanks, due to my not having a car at the moment, I won't bother, but thanks anyway. I can appreciate for some people it makes sense to wait because of the savings possible; but for me it didn't make sense, and I made this perfectly clear when I ordered the car.

There was never a good reason given for the delays, apart from "Christmas", but as I ordered and paid the deposit in late November, Christmas should never have come into the equation.

I am hundreds of pounds out of pocket due to hire car fees, booking a hotel on the Thursday in Sheffield for the Friday night, assuming I would be collecting it Saturday am - and then being told Friday afternoon that the car as ordered wasn't available. Under the circumstances, I am being quite restrained about the service I received.

All my advice has been to others is - go there to buy cars that are in stock, don't bother ordering, because the dates quoted (to me at any rate) had no basis in fact.

It's possible that Motor Provider are waiting for a large enough number of orders, say 50 orders, for cars with which to go to Renault. Then they can try and get a large enough discount. All Renault have to do is find the cars. As long as the drivers side is on the right, they can come from anywhere in the world. I was told by letter that I would have to wait for a further six weeks due to an admin error by Renault. I've cancelled my order and will receive a full refund. Unless the car is in stock and on their forecourt, then yes, use Motor Provider. If you have to order then think again. You could end up losing some of that discount.

I have nothing but praise for Motor Provider. I called the Renault factory (having spoke to 8 people there), having seen a review about someones car being late, and they confirmed that they sell Motor Provider over 200 Renault cars a month, and the recent admin error in December 2006 was Renault's mistake and apologised; hence some 60 cars were late, although my car was only 3 days late. So my advise to people is, they have been in business for years, and they have been recommended by loads of people and companies, ie. Daily Telegraph. Don't let a couple of bad reviews put you off, as they have 100's of good ones. I have dealt with them, met them and I am very happy... Oh, and I saved £6000!

I can only emphasize I am a very happy customer, but I can conclude at the end of the day, looking at the reviews there are a lot of very happy customers with the price and service, and some who are happy with the company and the deal, but there are some people upset, as they have been affected by a batch of cars that are late from the manufacturers. I am sure that Motor Provider aren't happy also if cars are late from the factory, as this may reflect badly on them, but an educated man knows they have no control over any factory, as they don't make them.
