Good Points

Quite and private, plenty of room. Nothing is too much trouble for the owners who are very friendly and helpful. Very good value.

Bad Points

A bit remote unless you rent a car

General Comments

I stayed at Le Capitaine for a month in October/November and would recommend it to anyone on a budget. Because it is so unbelievably cheap I could stay for a month instead of my usual two weeks holiday. The owner, Clarel, will pick you up from the airport and if you want, will give you a quick tour of interesting places on the way home. He speaks English and will help with any queries you have. There is a variety of rooms available - Me and my husband had the second floor studio which meant we had privacy as no-one else comes up to the second floor. Security is good as his wife, Fathiya is on the premises most of the time running the little shop downstairs. The studio is a large room with small bathroom - plenty of instant hot water. There is a large wardrobe, double bed with mosquito net, table and chairs, new microwave, kettle, iron, tv and a small selection of pans and plates. If you need any more pans, just ask and he will provide them. The kitchen is across the large terrace and although very basic I managed to cook up some decent meals. We also left behind a small barbeque to use on our terrace so ask him if you want to borrow it. The area is a residential area about 10 minutes drive from Port Louis and there is a frequent bus service from the top of the road. Clarel found us a good deal on a hire car, which I would recommend to see the rest of the island. You get clean linen for the bed but bring your own towels. I did my own cleaning around the studio but you can arrange for the cleaner to do it for a small fee. All in all It felt like home and I can't wait to go back.
