Superb economy, I've had 80MPG on a 400 mile run
Tyre wear - Michellin Energy's have lasted 35,000
Reliability - only door strap needing replacing (warranty)
12,500 mile service interval
Brakes - it stops very well indeed
Low tax band (I think £55 per annum)
NCAP4
Your never likley to loose your license or get points in this!
Amazing how much you can cram into it
Moduboard is ideal for protecting fragile items
Performance - but my supercharged MX-5 & XK8 are 4 that!
Service costs - it's dearer than my XK8! (but still below £300)
Grip in wet/cold - but then I could always change tyre type
I bought this car as a dealer demonstrator in Jan 2004 and have put 27,000 miles on the clock since then. There were very few cars at this time that came with so many extras notably
Chilled glovebox
Paddle shift
Climate control
Auto lights
Auto wipers
Smartnav Satnav (dealer fit)
I use this mostly for business miles and do most of my journeys in early hours of the morning and so can take my time to get the best economy - the best I've had out of a single tank has been 705 miles (and it's a small tank). I was a little wary of Citroens as I'd read some horror stories about C2/C3 reliability with pre 2003 models but am glad to report that I've not had any problems with mine! :O)
As I take the money instead of a company car I'm pleased to say that even at claiming just 13 pence per mile I'm actually making money driving my Citroen
£35 to fill up and averages 620 miles per tank means I get to claim back £80, so this car pays for it's Diesel, insurance, servicing and breakdown cover. Then I have the added bonus of the rebate from the tax man come year end!
I had intended to sell this car just before the 3 years was up but it's been so reliable I'm going to keep it.
I cannot understand why so many company car drivers are so status conscious, only once has a customer ever commented on the Citroen negatively when a Chief Executive of one company asked "Is that your little silver car in the car park?" My reply "yes, are you one of those sad individuals that devines someones worth on the car they drive.,..if that's the case I'll come in the Jaguar next time" :o)
Yes it takes an age to get up to 60 but then my philosophy is simple, if you have to break the speed limit you really should have left earlier! :O) :o
