As a road car this is a fantastic vehicle, however, had I wanted this then I would have purchased a V70. Do read the rest!
As an off-roader it sucks - I bought it to pull a boat (the boat and trailer weigh 1300kg, well within the supposed 2250kg limit) but if you put the car under the slightest strain such as a mild hill start and the clutch stinks. I now do not bother using the car to pull the boat across a sandy beach since I have lost count of the number of times that it has got stuck in conditions which do not seem to bother lesser 4x4's. Even for road use the lower gears are too high, it is very easy to stall.
Also the hand brake is designed for use only with an automatic car, if you buy a manual vehicle make sure that you do a hill start in traffic during your test drive, it will scare the living daylights out of you!
Think Volvo, think quality... wrong!
The car is 8 months old and so far I have had to call the RAC out three times and had countless other problems such as
1. clutch failed ... car in garage for over a week
2. hand brake failed ... car in garage for 1 day
3. fuel filler cap cover jammed shut
4. stones stuck within braking mechanism, not stopping the car from being driven, but making a deafening noise
5. speaker kept falling out of the door.
