General Comments

I am a young shooter but I still take my shooting seriously. Recently I purchased the Powrline 9856 target kit from Wal-Mart. The first thing you will notice is the price. It is only $34.00! I obviously don't have a steady income so I wasn't going to buy a $300.00 Winchester. Not to mention my backyard can't handle 1,000fps. But back to the review. How good of a gun can it be for $34.00 you ask? Well, to my standards, pretty darn good. I took it home and instantly went right into the box. It comes with four shatter blast targets, one target holder, and a max-Speed 4x scope. The directions make it a sinch to hook up the stylish and accurate scope to the 3/8 dovetail mounts and zero it in. After three windage and elevation adjustments (it was my first time) it was hitting within a half inch of the bulls eye every shot. Keep in mind I had just bought it 2 hours before and never used a scope in my life. The scope really helps it's accuracy. This gun fires 670fps with ten pumps and 295 with two pumps. There is a great variety of muzzle velocities which is great. There is a chart of pumps to fps in the instruction manual it comes with. The shatterblast targets it comes with are great! They explode on impact but not quite like it says. Daisy claims they explode into a million pieces. That is obviously exageration but it is more like 3 to 4 big pieces and a few tiny ones. I find that it is better that way because you can really test your skill by puting the broken pieces in the holder and shooting them. This is a great gun, but for $34.00 there must be some flaws so here they are. The stock is made from plastic. It is light but doesn't give great feel, but hey its $34.00. Another is not related to the price but it is the fact that it is a single shot capacity pellet only gun. If your looking to blast away relatively quickly its not going to happed with this gun. Each shot you need to open the bolt, pick up a pellet, slip it in all the while getting lead dust all over your hands, and then close up the bolt.(be sure to wash hands after shooting). But for the price it is great. None of these stopped me from buying it! Good luck and happy shooting...hopefully wth the Powerline 9856 rifle.
