SRM's Review of Spooks
3rd Jan 2007
Overall Rating
- Starring (Main Performers)Peter Firth, Rupert Penry Jones, Hermione Norris
Spooks was, in 2006, granted the title of the 3rd best British drama of all time. Finally it has been congratulated for what it actually is - a brilliant drama which matches any espionage or thriller on television (or film for that matter). It cannot be compared to any other drama, and its unique style makes it a fantastic programme to watch. Now with a 6th comissioned series, it is shaping up to be a well-deserved permanent fixture on our television screens.
Bad Points
The fact that the actors are only temporarily featured along the course of the 5 series. In each series, the team is broken up and people die. This is to make sure that the actors don't have to make strong, permanent commitments but provide them to be part of world-class television. However, somehow when a long-featured character leaves, the drama loses its spark a little.
General Comments
Brilliant drama, shown all over the world, charting MI5's espionage services and the action and conspiracies behind it. Thrilling and on the edge of your seat stuff, which is incredible to watch.
