Good Points

At the time I bought it 1 1/2 years ago it was good value for the money ($600), but since it worked mostly for what I used it for (portable record and photo storage, DVD viewing and landline connection to the internet), I was happy.


Bad Points

Trouble started as soon as I bought it, but I hadn't been offered an extended service warranty for it. The wi-fi didn't seem to work, but I hadn't purchased my own wi-fi, and I had a landline connection, so I didn't worry too much about it. The power cord hooks to the computer in a place which interferes with the DVD player. Then the DVD player stopped working recently - it only played about 10 minutes of a DVD before quitting. Then the LiteOn power/adapter cord broke (actual frayed wires) at the point where I had to bend it to get it out of the way of the DVD player, and I can't find out how to replace it, or whether a universal cord will work (and I'm not about to pay $60 - $80 for one until I find out). Walmart does not seem to have a number for computer service on its website. It is hot and noisy compared to my new Acer (see Review). The plastic case has small cracks in it, and the left click button, which I used to play card games, was very hard to operate, and the plastic actually broke, leaving 1 1/2 square cm of the insides of the computer exposed.


General Comments

Walmart seems to have sold out of the Balance Model A535 laptop, and there is no indication that they will ever sell them again.
