Good Points

Wonderful picture. Sound top notch. Plays all the discs I have fed it.

Bad Points

None that I can find.

General Comments

Being new to DVD took me awhile to set up correctly, eventually connected to my SKY digibox as my TV has only one scart socket. I use an Arcam audio amplifier with Kef floorstanding speakers. Although I haven't got surround sound speakers the assertiveness, quality and openess are excellent through my amp...the Yamaha produces a virtual stereo surround sound. The picture is extremely good.
CD sound is very good although not as punchy as my NAD CD player. Yamaha have done well on this and this will suit those who don't want a seperate CD player. Plays Video Cd's and MP3's too. As of yet I can't fault this machine.

I must say that for value for money the S530 is a very good buy, the only problem I've found with mine to date is that the Open/Shut function seems to have a mind of it's own....but this seem to be a common thing with higher spec players.
