Jog dial, excellent menu system, WAP capable, good reception, decent array of features, attractive slender design.
Bad Points
The games are a bit naff, too few normal ringtones and weak vibrate. No infra-red download.
General Comments
I bought my CMD-J6 almost one year ago for £80. After a few seconds test driving the unit in the store it soon became apparant that it was the most user friendly phone I'd ever handled. Some right-handed folk have complained about the jog dial on the left side, but I find it suits me perfectly. I'm right-handed and am able to use the phone perfectly well with my left hand, scrolling through options with my thumb and selecting them by pressing the jog wheel. The reception on Vodafone has been excellent, only ever experiencing difficulty in the most remote of locations. The four games are poor at best, almost pointless in fact, but the remaining features make for good value. The absence of any normal ring tones is a bit irritating, and the vibrate function is quite weak, but WAP capability, a global map with international dialing codes and time zones and a digital recording function prove useful, especially for travellers. At time of writing the J6 has been superseded by the J7, an equally attractive phone with the added joy of having no protruding aerial to poke you in the groin when you sit down, or turn removal of the unit from a coat pocket into a Crypton Factor challenge. By now you'd be hard pressed to find a J6 in the shops, but the J7 can probably be picked up for £60-£70, making it very good value.
