Beautiful rifle - accurate and easy to handle.
No seperate safety devise.
As a kid I had several of those cheap break-barrel .177 cal. airguns like Gamo and Slavia, and you surely wouldn't hear any bird-singing around my childhood home. Back then I often imagined how awesome it would be if an air rifle could be reloaded with just a hand movement, and were powered from some sort of air reservoir. I even comtemplated to do some designing - but what do you know when you're only about 10 - and soon I grew into the powder department.
Then, some years ago, I went into a gun shop, which I hadn't frequented before - just to see what they had to offer. After looking at various guns and scopes, I discovered that they had a broad variety of air rifles. Among the break-barrels, under- and side-levers I suddenly saw some odd looking devises with thin barrels and some sort of tubes under them. I asked what this was all about, and was told that they were PCP-rifles. I'd never heard the word before, but realized that those rifles were the answers to my childhood dreams - and without doing any second thinking, I bought one right on the spot - along with a scope. My choice was the Webley FX2000 .22 cal, because I think it has the most harmonious design.
It really is a wonderful rifle - in Denmark there are no restrictions on air guns whatsoever, so you can only purchase the FAC (in England)-version - with a full tank it delivers about 25-30 shots on full power - from about 35, the pellets start to drop increasingly with every shot. The 8-shot magazine is just right - not too small, not too big, and reloading runs smoothly. One of the few down-points is that there is no devise that prevents you from firing without a pellet in the chamber - you often loose count, and I hate to fire an unloaded air gun - it has a sick sound to it. It's quite noisy too, but that can be helped - after a week I bought a silencer, which reduced the bang considerably.
It's nowhere near as powerful as a rimfire, but for an air gun it's quite remarkable - and it's certainly not a toy! From a distance of up to 50 meters a magpie shouldn't be able to distinguish a .22 PCP from a rimfire - once hit!
The FX has exellent accuracy - a miss must be blamed on poor maksmanship, not the rifle - and it's great for target practice, if you're afraid that your deer-rifle would create too much distubance in the neighbourhood.
I highly recommend the Webley FX2000 .22 cal. as a supplement to your rimfire.
