General Comments

Walther MRS-Multi Reticule Sight

The Walther MRS Sight is made mostly of aluminium and a few plastic parts, it consists of a built in weaver base, 23*34mm display screen, Allen screw adjusters for height and windage and a seven position switch to turn it on and vary the brightness of the sighting reticule

First impressions are that this is a quality piece of equipment which at the design stage it probably was, but then it was sent to China for manufacturing and this is where the grand plan fell apart, the machining of the components is quite good and the materials are of reasonable quality but then they give it to the local farmer to assemble and you finish up with a pile of junk.

The cover over the reticule display is to long and cuts off the display at the top of the display screen, it also it stands up to far and obscures the bottom of the screen so instead of the display being 23*34mm you end up with a 15*34mm display. You can improve this by cutting about 1.5mm off the top edge of the cover which will make the display 20*34 which is quite acceptable. The height and windage adjusting screws are a very fine thread and instead of being machined screws they are cold rolled which is the worst type of thread you can use on a precision piece of equipment, after one week of use the windage screw on mine stripped, I have machined new parts for this rather than send it back under the guarantee as I will only finish up with the same inferior parts.

Over all I do like this sight and in use on a CP88 it is excellent and great fun to use and very accurate, but there again I have a small machine shop where I can do modifications ect and alter things to my liking. There are quite a few sights of this style on sale and this one is supposed to be at the better end of the market, it may be that the one I brought is a rouge one but I don't think so. If you still fancy one of these then please try it as it is guaranteed for one year it is a nice sight to use it is just a pity the engineering is not up to standard.
