On the 24/10/06 we were involved in an accident on the M6. On informing our insurance company that the car had been pushed sideways, they told me my car would be picked up by Erdington Accident Repair Centre the following day. I was not given a choice of where to take my car.
Erdington Accident repair centre picked up the car, and both them and the insurance company were aware that the car had been pushed sideways by an artic.
After 4 weeks we were informed the car was ready for collection, so we booked a days holiday each from work to go and get the car. This was on the 22/11/06. When we arrived to pick the car up, it was nowhere near ready. It had 8 faults as far as we could see at the time. We refused to accept the car, and we were informed it would be ready on the Saturday - 25/11/06. We picked the car up and paid the £250.00 excess.
On driving home we noticed the steering and suspension was strange. On informing the insurance company of this, they agreed to book it into Toyota and pay for wheel alignment. This was done, but Toyota gave up trying to align the wheels after an hour and a half. They suspected suspension/subframe damage. This was passed onto the insurance company, who in turn booked the car into another of their approved repairers.
A. Thompsons Motor Bodies Wednesbury - they picked the car up on 13/12/2006. They confirmed the suspension damage due to the accident, but had not put it on a Body Jig to inspect the subframe. As the BC post had been damaged in the accident and poorly repaired. We feel this car should not have been repaired, and we do not wish to accept it back after the fiasco of the first repair shop. Their Wheel alignment print outs do not match Toyota's spec.
We have now been informed by Head of complaints that Endsleigh car insurance have spent a lot of money on the repair of this vehicle so far, and he is getting an inspector out to view the car, but he will not write if off as it should have been. If the first repair shop had done the job properly and was not so shoddy, this vehicle would possibly have been written off. I have stressed to him that I will not accept this vehicle back, even after their so-called repairs.
We have now lost all faith in the insurers supposed approved repairers, and we do not wish to accept this car back after shoddy workmanship so far, and when questioned at the first place about this, we were informed "it was a repair, what did we expect" and that was with 8 faults that anyone could see.
