General Comments

This scooter has taken me on a daily 15-mile round trip, from Fulham to the City of London and vice versa, for six months now. It replaces my de-restricted Vespa ET4 50cc. Comparing the two is pointless: the SH125i is in a completely different league. Its huge wheels and better suspension and shaped seat make for a much comfier ride. Its acceleration is great. Vespa's GTs and ET4 125s are slower away from the traffic lights than this punchy Honda.

Fuel consumption is good. I get fewer miles out of a tank than the other reviewers: roughly 90mpg, but my rides are typically through start-stop congestion in London.

My old Vespa got nicked when I had it for two months. My Honda is still fine, parked on the street. The salesman I bought the Honda from told me its lock is better and cannot just be 'barrelled' by your standard yob. The Honda's big wheels make it easy to feed a chainlock through. A further 'benefit' of the Honda is its lack of trendiness: it's probably less of a trophy than the cooler Vespas for bored kids from the neighbouring council estate.

The headlights produce a fairly high beam. I noticed low sports cars driving in front of me having some trouble: the beam is just a bit too high for Porsches and the like, and hits their rear view mirrors.

Looking at various scooters to buy, I prefer the Honda SH125i, but do you think it'll be okay for a 16 mile one way commute (32 mile round trip), a couple of times a week through London traffic? The high headlight also appeals to me, to give greater visibility against most scooters which have their headlights down low.

Best thing is to overtake the Porsches, then you won't be dazzling them any more. Seriously though, either your headlamp needs adjustment or you you are riding too close behind. If the latter, take care: a Porsche has much better brakes than your scooter!
