If you are a fan of movies like the Matrix then Equilibrium is another cool film you will probably love. There are some really cool action scenes which are choreographed beautifully. I think the main reason I like this film is that there is a lot of suspense constantly making you feel like there is more to know.
There is nothing thats "bad" about this film but there are many faults so I'm going to put them into some bullet points :
It's a bit of a stupid idea that a futuristic society is dumb enough to believe that the mere existence of paintings, poems and sculptures can somehow lead to WW4.
It makes no sense for a culture with no emotions to choose a spouse and desire sex to have babies.
The Police glass helmets and shields smash, stupid, obviously they should be bullet proof.
Sets look cheap.
Nearly all the people that Preston attacks are just standing there doing nothing.
From first impressions you would think this film is stupid, the story is a bit weird, easy to understand but just makes you think, why?
For example, it's stupid to assume that a culture based on taking a drug every morning is not a very secure or feasible idea. I think it is well-made but there are many aspects to it that really let it down, in my opinion the sets look cheap.
I do like the cool characters that seem to have no emotions at all and crack facial expressions when they're probably not supposed to.
To be honest, this film is based on a lot of other films like "Bladerunner". However there is still something that is really appealing to watch it, and the ending is really satisfying. So all I can say is go watch it and see for yourself.
