I bought the 2002 325 with 85,000Kms for $24k CDN. I got the manual transmission (highly recommended). This machine is great! It is so smooth at high speeds and handles like a star. I like this body style better than the new 3 series and I hope to keep it for years and just restore it. I was looking at the Acura TSX, Mazda 3, and Jetta but I decided to go for an older BMW than buy a new one of those. Every thing in regards to performance is exceptional. I didn't get any of the many options you can get with the BMW because they weren't important to me. I could have spent thousands more on the options like electric seats, sun roof etc but I took the base options just to be able to afford the vehicle.
1) Small console area. Not a lot of storage (less than the other vehicles I was looking at). there is no where to attach a cell phone to the dash.
2) First gear is a little tricky getting used to. I found this same comment in other reviews.
Awesome car but expensive to maintain. They are quite reliable but when something does happen you're gonna pay for it boy. I would definitely recommend this car to someone. You can get one for a really good price if you don't get all the options. They look great and drive great. There is the negative BMW stereotype that BWM owners are YUPPIE snobs with little personality and that is why I never considered one before - I didn't want to be slotted into that stereotype but I took one for a drive at the recommendation of a friend and there is no comparison. When I first met my girlfriend of 1 year, I picked her up on our first date in the BMW and she was thinking the worst... oh no... he's one of those guys. Well, she has been driving it for a year now and I hear her say every week how much she loves driving the car. She says she feels safe because it handles so well and is so responsive plus she likes to put the peddle to the metal every once in a while which is a thrill.
I used to get bored of cars after a few months but there is no getting bored of this sweet machine!
