I have owned and used many high end pump and auto shotguns of various brandnames over the last 25 yrs. and I have yet to shoot anything that patterns even close to my Invector Plus BPS from bird shot, turkey loads to magnum buckshot and slugs,I recommend it to any serious sportsman who wants the most and best performance for thier money from thier equipment. P.S. to all who are sensitive to recoil who prefer autos I'm sure the Gold Hunter will please you as well . I also promise you that you'll never find another shotgun for the money that will pattern as good as an Invector plus, hands down. After shooting various factory 00 buckshot loads through my BPS, with various chokes, I found the gun to shoot the best pattern from approximately 30 yds. with my modified choke, using Federal Premium copper plated 3 inch magnums with 15 00 buck pellets, and even better with an extended modified choke tube from Briley. The outcome at 30 yards was a pattern that measured a respectful consistant 15 pellets within a 16 to 18 inch circle. To those who don't believe it, just try for yourself and see. My best slug performance from 65 yards was with Brenneke KO slugs,(which are foster type) and Federal rifled slugs(typical for all smooth bore), which both held a respectful 3 to 4 inch group at 65 yds. With only a factory bead for aiming. I also tried buckshot through a turkey choke as I have had many, many people reccommend to me in the past, with various 00 buck 3 inch and 2 3/4 loads, and it was not really bad, but not really good pattern either, with a consistant spread of from 30 to 40 inches at 30 yds. With long shot strings and numerous flyers out to the side, it wasn't as good as the modified choke tube as previousely mentioned
The BPS in my opinion is a little heavy due to an all steel reciever, which is not really a bad thing since alloy recievers will wear internally due to the action. The gun has quite a long reach to the fore end to pump the action also. When shooting 3 Inch magnums, the gun does deliver a healthy dose of recoil, but can be tamed as I did by installing a quality recoil pad such as the SVL LimbSaver pad, it was easy to install and cuts recoil by at least 50 to 60 %.
Over all, I consider the Browning BPS to be the best deal for your hard earned money If you want a quality gun that will pattern way better than most guns 3 times the price, and will not let you down in the field no matter what your quarry may be, from doves, pheasants, turkey, and big game such as deer or wild boar, from bird shot to the heaviest magnum buckshots, I promise you that you will not be disappointed. Since I have owned my BPS, I have encountered numerous owners as well who are also very satisfied as I am, and not one owner who had even one bad thing to say about their gun. I am very pleased with mine and glad that I bought it.
