Good Points

It does the job
Units have a nice look, and fit in with the house
It's digital
It does everything it is meant to do, and well


Bad Points

If you want to turn the monitor off, it gives 2 very loud beeps on both Monitor and Receiver. The intention is to warn in case a unit is accidentally switched off, but it's a significant downside to the product. Each night when you go to turn the monitor off, just when the baby is asleep, the 2 beeps are heard all around the house and it destroys the atmosphere.


General Comments

Overall, I am pleased with the unit. It may be expensive for what is essentially a walkie-talkie; I paid 50GBP on eBay. The quality isn't great. It's much less than telephone quality, but it doesn't really need to be good. So for that reason it seems like a lot of money, and perhaps something cheaper would suffice. DECT gives peace of mind of anybody eaves dropping into the monitor. But, what is there to listen into anyway?? Some baby crying or silence for maybe 2 hours max in the evening.

If you like the Philips SC477 Digital Baby Monitor baby monitor, go ahead with the purchase. You'll only be disappointed when switching it off. If you think they're expensive you're right. A cheaper unit with less features will work just as well, and you'll be equally pleased.
