Good Points

Solid construction. Good sights. Good feel and balance. Beautiful to look at. Feels great in your hands.

Bad Points

Could have a more solid hood over the front sight. Made of plastic which could break easily if dropped in cold or freezing weather.

General Comments

I have been collecting air rifles for a while. I have some of the classics: RWS 54 .22, 52 .22, 48 .177, IZH 61, Benjamin Sheridans .20 and .22, Crossman 1000X. They are all great shooters with lots of power and great accuracy. Even the $94 Crossman was a great and pleasent find! and one of my favorites to shoot.

I have been looking at the 220 for a while, attracted by the extraordinary good looks and feel of the gun. I would go time and time again to the isle at Cabelas and handle the gun like all other nuts, looking at it, balancing it, looking throught he sites pointing at the stuffed animals high up on the mountain in the center of the store. However I would recall all the reviews I read here and shy away from buying it. Well yesterday I took the plunge and did it!

I saved the box and all its contents expecting to return it if all the comments on this review board became real. So far all I read went like this: "The gun is trash" or "The gun is great but only after a lot of tunning, expert reconstruction or tweeking to the n'th degree".

Well that was the mindset. I took it out of the box this morning and started my routine. Withing ten minutes I had it corrected for windage and elevation and the gun was doing fabulous at ten meters. The trigger feels very good. There is no "twang" as the spring feels solid and muffled.

I think the secret is in the pellets. I went thought this with all my other guns, going over one pellet type after another until I finally accepted that the best of all is....... "RWS Superpoints". I shoot only that in all my guns and never have the problems that others talk about. They pellets are medium weight, very well made, somewhat expensive but very, very accurate.

I started off right off the bat with these pellets and did not find a single problem with accuracy on this gun.

I still have to mount the scope and move farther back but I suspect that with this initial performance there will be no problems doing that.

Maybe I just got a good one, I don't know, but I simply love the gun.
