redrebo's Review of Citibank
21st Nov 2006
Overall Rating
First of all, CitiBank are about the best in customer service. I have had the bank change the withdrawal limit on my ATM Card for an emergency, and after about 15 minutes on the phone with a nice agent, a manager gave the OK for the increase. Ordering bank drafts or wires is no hassle; simply fax the bank the request, and they call you back on the same day (or sooner if you insist). At the branch you are met with a smile and lots of courtesy. The type of accounts offered, as well as the products, the readiness of CitiBank to assist its clients wherever they are all over the world, and the friendliness to assist people through troubles, make me say ALL THUMBS UP TO CitiBank. I once lost 15 thousand US$ in a wire transfer that CitiBank got back for me, thanks to their helpful staff!!!
Bad Points
Even though it is CitiBank, if you go from one country to another you will discover it is not necessarily the same bank... Technically speaking you have to address your branch, but that is not an issue: just fax your branch and they will readily call you back wherever you are in the world. They also assist you through problems when out of the country through their contacts in other financial institutions, including other CitiBank Group Establishments.
General Comments
If you are someone that travels often on business or pleasure, if you are a heavy investor that needs to wire money readily 24/24 and fast, if you write a lot of drafts or cheques and need them certified, or if you simply need an all online bank, then CitiBank offers you THE best value for money I have seen to this day. They also have a chequing account that pays you back if you do not withdraw money (interest .50 percent I think, and - a few cents for every withdrawal from any ATM worldwide + handling fees of the other institution).
My idea of a bank or a banking service is one where you leave all the worries to THE bank, and this is ONE bank that makes it possible.
