General Comments

** "The Wrong Type of Dust on the Carpet" **. I thought this was a great vacuum cleaner in the first week of use. How wrong I was!!! Within 14 days of normal use, small plastics bits of it (it's all plastic!) were falling off. Within 2 months the main motor began to overheat/ cut out after 3-4 minutes of use. This could only be prevented by regularly buying new 'filters' at substantial cost. I am a patient man. I continued the use-overheat-new filter-use cycle for a further 4 months. Then it began to over heat after 2 minutes of normal use with brand new filters. I went to look for that receipt but could only with the guarantee card...which Dyson would not accept when I tried to return the useless thing to them for 'repair'. So, 14 months after spending over £250 I threw it in the skip at the local council tip. And bought a top-of-the-range conventional Miele for less money. On reflection, I can't think of anything else I've ever bought which has been such a complete waste of money.

In Summary:
1 - Very poor build quality
2 - NO reliability
(I note that the product literature now admits that it cannot be used for any type of dust so UNUSUAL as the type you may generate while drilling a hole in a wall)
3 - No decent after-service

A WASTE OF (a lot of) MONEY.

(and if you don't believe me, just read the last 2 years of 'Which?' magazine reports about which brand of vacuum cleaner has the WORST reliability record in all of Europe.....)
