Very cheap
Does everything
We bought the HP PSC 1410 multifunction printer just over a year ago for around £60. For what we got, we believe we had a bargain, but now I see they can be purchased even cheaper!
It has worked hard for us as a home printer. My son has used it whilst taking his degree in Business Marketing, for printing his work, photocopying and scanning documents. I have used it for a various jobs too, all that plus photographs. The quality of print is very good. For a home office printer I would fully recommend it, as it does everything you will want!
It is fairly easy to set up, and if you do have any problem there is a helpline number to call. Initially we thought we had a problem, which HP assisted us with, it turned out to be the computer that had the problem (we ended up having to purchase a new one!) and not the printer, but we were very impressed by the speed our enquiry was dealt with, and the help and assistance given by HP. Setting it up with our newer computer was a doddle.
The inks supplied with the printer are HP 21 (black) and HP 22 (tricolour), and they cost around £23 to replace both if you look for them on the Internet, but they are a little more expensive in the shops. They can be purchased separately, as the black always runs out quicker. There are cheaper brands available, but we think it is better to stick with HP. The inks are very easy to replace, not at all fiddly, and very straightforward by following the instructions correctly. We get a warning when ink is getting low, in good time to buy replacements all ready.
We have been very impressed with the quality of prints for all this machines functions, including photographs. They are printed off reasonably quickly. We have had the occasional paper jam, but they have been easily sorted. The paper was just loaded incorrectly.
In all, this printer is extremely good value for money, and for the price you pay you will be very pleased with it, as we are. There are many far more expensive printers on the market which probably do better prints if compared, especially in photographs. We have compared, but the difference is so minimal we do not intend to change.
