Good Points

Clean, and hardly any cockroaches, as we were told there would be. Close enough to the nightlife, but far enough away to have a quiet night. The pool bar was good, with the cleanest kitchen I've ever seen. The pool was small, but it was big enough to mess about in. The lift was always working, except when they shut it down for maintenance.

Bad Points

Lots and lots of steps. You won't need to go Weightwatchers before you go. The self catering facilities are the most basic I've ever seen. You don't even get a toaster. We only managed to cook 1 meal, as it was just too difficult with only 2 rings. The tiles on the large patios are deadly when wet, though it doesn't rain much. Watch out for the stray cats; though very friendly, they come in the windows at night. There is no smoking anywhere at the hotel (a killer for me). We had 1 morning of rain, and the ceilings leaked in the apartment, and it was like a colander in reception. There's no bar at the hotel after 6pm.

General Comments

After reading comments before we went, we were very apprehensive, but we were satisfied, as it was a very cheap holiday, and you get what you pay for.

We enjoyed our holiday at the Blue Star Apartments in Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria, but we would have preferred to have been able to eat in more often, as we have a fussy eater. The walk to the beautiful beach was about 20 minutes downhill, and a 3 Euro taxi ride back. If you move from bar to bar in the commercial centre, you can be in happy hour all night long, but Turbo Bar in the Europa Centre takes some beating.
