General Comments

I recently "upgraded" to the Sony Ericsson K800i from the W800i after much deliberation between the K800i and the W950i. My initial thoughts were negative because I am a huge fan of the Walkman series and this model doesn't support Walkman features. In reality, this means I have no button on the phone that takes me into Walkman mode, no specialised equalizer settings for optimal listening, no comfort fit ear phones, no in-line remote control. This may seem trivial but they all take away from the sleekness of the phone. The new Walkman phone can also display album art on the screen and probably the best new function is the ability to record music that you don't recognise and then go online and find the track title and album it belongs to, all bundled with a 4GB hard drive!!

The main reason I chose the K800i over the W950i was the lack of camera function in the W950i. I though to myself, I can create a shortcut key to take me to MP3 function, I can make do without Dolby surround sound when listening to MP3's, I managed to keep hold of my Walkman earphones and finally I bought a 1GB memory card. Now I have all the functions of the Walkman series plus an amazing 3.2 mega pixel camera with enough storage space for 100's of pictures. While owners of the W950i may have the MP3 functionality they will never have an integrated camera!

Other functions of the k800i that impressed me most were: the RSS reader for up to the minute breaking news, you can subscribe to any RSS feed that interests you. The large screen and rapid Internet connection create perfect conditions for web surfing just as easy as using a PDA. I use the web on my mobile for eBay, Kelkoo, Google and lots more. The razor sharp screen enhances pictures and doesn't fade in sunlight.

A negative would be the relatively short battery life but saying that, I haven't charged mine in 3 days and it's still alive.

Overall a superb addition to the Sony Ericsson range and a phone that I'm glad I chose.
