After owning a Toshiba 2927DB for the last 12 years it was time to upgrade, but to what? After visiting Currys and looking round i found myself drawn to the new Toshiba 36ZP38. After looking around further it was between a Sony and Toshiba. With its picture frame surrond, the Toshiba won the day looking unobtrusive in a small room for a 36". I made my purchase from Robertsons on line and was not disappionted, their service was great with Toshiba delivering and installing the whole package with a saving of over £500 on the highstreet prices. The TV has proved a very good buy, the picture quality is excellent. The pro logic surround sound gives very good effects, even at low volumes.

Wow, this Toshiba 36ZP38 must be a good set, everyone doing a deal has sold-out! The only place I managed to get one from is Hi-Spek. I am going to receive the set/vcr/dvd on Friday but I was wondering if anyone could explain the component cable to me? I won't be getting one yet but was told it's the best thing for picture/sound... is it true? These guys won't be installing my tv, just delivering and they don't supply the cables. Will I be ok with my scart connections?

you will be ok with your scarts but the component splits the signal into three so less interference so an allegedly better picture

Don't forget that if you use the component connection that you will need to make a separate digital audio connection (this set supports both Optical and Electrical types) as component carries video signal only.

Component video as previously stated offers the best picture quality. At present (please correct me if i am wrong) component video outputs are available from DVD sources. Output from SKY is RGB (so I am told) but this is far better quality than Svideo. However as stated a seperate audio connection is required. However it is far better to use a decent Dolby pro logic / DTS decoding system that any inbuilt TV supplied system. At present Sky audio output is only in Pro Logic.
    Hope this info helps

Hi ! Right, I need to know how to get the sound from my DVD/Cinema system (Sony HCT-800) out of the Toshiba TV. I can get the sound from the TV to come out of the Cinema system but I can't get the DVD sound out of the TV (only out of the Cineama system). Can anyone help?! Vik.

    Hi
I am not sure about all in one DVD/Cinema systems, but with my set up (Arcam Alpha 10 & DAVE set up), all my components go to the processor and audio sections of the amp respectvly. (DVD, Video, Sky, PS2) from there the picture is cabled to the television whilst the audio is delevered direct to the speakers. Thus when watching programs other than normal TV (bbc1,2, ITV & ch4)through the aerial the TV internal sound is not used. (Because it is vastly inferior than the sound from the Arcam.
