Fantastic rides and shows
Themed areas
Set in beautiful surroundings
Good value for money
In October a lot of the shows that we were looking forward to, eg. cowboy shows and can can dancers, were horror shows instead. This is the only bad point from the whole visit - I imagine most people would enjoy the shows.
Everyone in our party had a wonderful time when we visited Universal Mediterranea Resort, Port Aventura in October. There were four adults and three teenagers, and there was more than enough to see and do for all! It's a good time to visit as there were no queues and the weather was still pleasant.
The park closes at 7pm at this time of year, but they put on a special show after midnight on Saturday for Halloween, and you could get in on your ordinary pass, so we didn't have to buy a special ticket. That was the only time we had to queue, but it was worth it to see the park at night, with all the lights, and to see the spectacular Halloween show!
We bought our tickets at home before travelling, and we got a really good price - £36 per person for a 7 day pass for the price of 3 days. We went 5 days out of our week in Salou, and didn't feel we had to rush around trying to fit it all into a couple of days.
The park is divided into 5 themed areas: Mexico, Far West, China, Polynesia and Mediterrania. It is set in beautiful, lush surroundings. Our favourites were Far West and Polynesia. Recommended rides are: Grand Canyon Rapids, Crazy Barrels, Wild Buffalos, Volpaiute (Far West) and Tutuki Splash, Kon-Tiki Wave and Sea Odyssey (Polynesia).
The water rides in particular are fantastic - you get absolutely drenched (unless you buy a poncho), but that's half the fun, and you soon dry off!
The show, Aloha Tahiti, is good, and the Templo Del Fuego is not to be missed in the Mexican area.
Hurakan Condor and Dragon Khan are a spectacle to behold, but they're not for the faint hearted! Only 2 out of the 7 of us were brave enough (or foolish enough) to try them!
There are lots of other attractions to see (that you need to pay a small amount for) eg. rifle ranges, hook a duck and lots of other games of chance, water cannons etc. There are also lots of souvenir shops to choose from to remember your visit.
There are lots of themed places to eat and drink, and the prices are reasonable. We asked for small drinks of coke and popcorn, and we couldn't believe the huge size of them - more than enough to share!
I would recommend a visit to Universal Mediterranea Resort, Port Aventura! It made our holiday, and my family and I would definitely go again!
