General Comments

This review is for the RWS Hobby flathead pellets. These are the lightest .22 cal LEAD pellets around. They have good accuracy at shorter ranges (20-25 yards) but their grouping gets much worse after that at least in my guns. I shoot almost exclusively magnum (20-24 ft lbs) or super magnum (25-35 ft lbs) piston guns. Whether you may be shooting piston guns or PCP, if you push pellets above 1200-1300 fps they will tumble and accuracy will be awful. Obviously the lighter the pellet the higher the velocity will be for the most part but not always. I have fired the Beeman Laser pellets in .177 cal (the lightest .177 lead pellets @ 6.5 gr) and the Beeman Silver Bears ( 7.1 gr.) and the Silver Bears have posted higher velocities in several guns. I think this is due to a tighter bore fit.

The Hobby pellets are of course super out of lower powered airguns giving flat trajectory and possibly an extra fpe or so in many guns.

They are also excellent hunting pellets in some very powerful airguns but again I would caution using them too often as the lack of back pressure on the piston gets to be abusive. It is close to dry firing a gun to a point. With the Hobby pellets being so light and a wad cutter design there is not much penetration at all. This is great if you are hunting in a situation where there is not a lot of land/room.

These pellets are also very clean to handle leaving little or no residue. As always, you should wash your hands thoroughly after handling lead.

Others have complained about the poor fitting lids but this is the case with virtually all non screw on lid containers. I have very good success for many years with putting 4 small dents in the lid. Take a small pair of pliers or diagonal cutting pliers and put a small dent inwards on the lid at the top, bottom and on both sides. You will need to experiment with the size of the dents but you should come up with with a nice compromise between a lid that fits securely and and one that can be removed fairly easy.
