Not as powerful as other bikes in the class.

General Comments

I've had an XJ600 for four years. I've literally driven it across the USA and back (10,000 miles in one summer). I've taken very poor care of it, but the damn thing always starts. With a wider touring handlebar, steering is effortless. Stopping is very good, going fast is highly possible but not suicidally easy. I was shopping for a bike that wouldn't get me in trouble with the law or my doctor, I could ride to work every day on, and also take on the occasional motorcycle crusade (read twisty roads in the mountains of West Virginia) The XJ satisfies. I've got 3 Givi bags on the back, which when full lighten the front wheel at speed, but it's worth it for the storage space. Compare with the Bandit. Note: the gas tank doesn't seal well - I've had problems in the winter with water (and ice!) in carbs, but the drain valves are a piece of cake.
