Good Points

Very thick latex layer provides excellent grip.
Finger savers protect fingers from damage and give you more power in deflecting shots with the tips off your fingers when the balls just in your reach.
Wrist strap is double sided and very secure provides decent wrist protection.
Look sexy.
Hard rubber backhand provides good protection when punching.

Bad Points

Finger savers are awkward at first but you will get used to it.
Below average lifespan.
Not machine washable or finger savers will break.
Very hefty price tag at £50 for Climacool model and £25 for Replique model.

General Comments

Adidas Climacool ES4 Fingersave are the best gloves I've ever tried, although not very good value for money when going for £50. I would recommend the cheaper Replique model although it is rapidly being replaced by the 2006 Climacool model as £25 ain't worth paying for slightly more breathable material and some useless pads on the finger tips that "change your centre of gravity".

I would recommend these as match gloves to any keeper who is prepared to fork out the money although the gloves will tend to wear out within 2 months. Also whatever you do, do not put them in the washing machine, just wash by hand in warm soapy water.

I always wanted a set of Adidas Climacool ES4 Fingersave goalkeeper gloves as a kid, but they were too expensive - 10 years later I found a pair going cheap while picking the bones of Allsports bankruptcy, and I treated myself. Unfortunately, I just couldn't get used to them - I found it took a lot more effort and time to bend the fingers for a punch or quick catch, so they ended up being left at home and I went back to my trusted Nike Gloves - (cheap with good grip).
Did I give up on them too quickly or do they become more flexible with use?

Hi wobbled. You probably did give up too soon, as the Adidas Climacool ES4 Fingersave goalkeeper gloves are awkward at first, but you will get used to them. Eventually you'll find it hard to go back to non-Fingersave gloves.

After reading your review about the Adidas Climacool ES4 Fingersave goalkeeper gloves, I actually used them last night for an extended training session, and by the end of the night I was starting to get used to them. I guess they've earned a reprieve, and I'll let you know how I get on on Monday morning after playing with them in a competitive match over the weekend.
