Good Points

Compact but still big enough for 'working hands'.
2.5inch LCD screen gives all the info you will need. Bright enough to cope with most conditions.
Compatible with all EF lenses + EF-S.
Anti-dust system helps with keeping the sensor free from dust and software helps with the bits that do stick!

Bad Points

The down load access cover seems a little flimsy and might not last the life of the body.

General Comments

If you already use an EOS camera you will get used to the Canon EOS 400D in minutes. If you are new to the EOS system it will take you a little longer. Ergonomically it feels good in your hands.

The bundled zoom lens is a little slow so you might want to go for an f2.8 18-55mm after market lens.

Viewfinder information is clear, with a sensor that shuts off the LCD when you are focusing or the camera is hanging from the strap.

The auto focus is quick and precise. Full manual control as well as pre-programmed functions gives you all the creativity you need. + both .jpeg and RAW files are catered for.

All in all I think this is an ideal camera for both the serious amateur and someone new to Digital SLR.
